OEKO-TEX® STeP comprises an audited assessment according to transparent criteria and procedures for sustainable, environmentally friendly and socially responsible textile and fashion companies. The certification serves to reduce hazards and risks along the entire textile production chain, from the manufacture of fibers to the finishing of end products. It aims to improve sustainability, quality and resource conservation as well as the working conditions of production facilities.
As an independent testing and certification system for textile raw materials, intermediate and end products at all stages of processing, the OEKO-TEX ® Standard 100 certification stands for textile trust worldwide.
All components of an article are tested for over 300 harmful substances. This means that not only the textile material is tested, but also buttons, zippers and prints, for example.
By certifying all our products to OEKO-TEX® Standard 100, we ensure that the end product is free of harmful substances and certification to OEKO-TEX® STeP rules out the use of prohibited, regulated and harmful substances!
The German Sustainability Code (DNK) is an initiative of the German Federal Government that examines and reviews the anchoring of a sustainable corporate philosophy in the corporate process and everyday life. The Sustainability Code is not a one-off project, but rather a helpful approach to anchoring value-oriented action deep within the company and providing further insights for continuous corporate development.
"The topics of CSR and sustainability are central components of our corporate vision and therefore an integral part of our daily activities. Do good and talk about it!
The Sustainability Code is a practical and relatively easy-to-implement guideline for SMEs to highlight their "non-financial (CSR) performance". We are delighted that our many voluntary measures for value-based management have been externally recognized by the DNK committees.
We are therefore proud to be the first Austrian company to receive the DNK award!"
Gerald Heerdegen - CEO.
The Economy for the Common Good has the well-being of people and the environment as its primary goal and establishes an ethical economic model. This model is based on values that promote the common good and should enable a good life for people, animals and nature now and in the future. The Economy for the Common Good is a lever for change at a social, economic and political level. At its heart is the common good balance sheet.
You can find all the details about our balance sheet at Fahnengärtner's Common Good Balance Sheet.
FAHNENGÄRTNER has been a Climate Alliance company since the end of 2011 - here are some reasons for receiving this award:
FAHNENGÄRTNER is constantly investing in the expansion of resource-saving energy. With this in mind, a heat recovery system and a photovoltaic system covering over 1,500 m² have been installed in recent years, and considerable investments have been made in electromobility.
As a Salzburg 2050 partner company, we support the region and the state of Salzburg in achieving ambitious climate targets. As a company, we also want to make our contribution to preserving our beautiful province. The goals can only be achieved together and for this reason the Salzburg state government has brought partner companies, partner institutions and partner schools on board to guarantee the success of the Salzburg 2050 project.
We are constantly setting ourselves new goals in order to act and produce in an environmentally friendly way. In this context, we work closely with the state of Salzburg to find joint solutions for a better environment. Measures have already been taken in this regard in the past. The construction of a 1,500m² photovoltaic system, installation of a state-of-the-art heat recovery system, an electric charging station for public use and support for employees with car pools are just a few examples.
Every year, Umwelt Service Salzburg awards the SALZBURGER UMWELTBLATT to Salzburg companies, municipalities and organizations for outstanding achievements in regional environmental protection in the areas of energy, mobility, waste, resource conservation and the environment. In March 2017, we received this award in the supreme discipline of "holistic commitment to environmentally friendly measures".
Our heat recovery and photovoltaic system as well as the installed heat pump were particularly highlighted. As a Climate Alliance and Salzburg 2050 partner company, parking spaces for car pools and a public e-charging station are key elements of sustainable individual transportation for us.
The TRIGOS is Austria's most prestigious award for corporate social responsibility (CSR) and was presented for the seventeenth time in 2020. The aim of the TRIGOS is to recognize the best and most effective CSR activities of Austrian companies and to present the successful models to a wider public.
After 2017, we were once again nominated by the jury in 2020 for our holistic corporate social responsibility commitment as one of 18 companies - this time in the "Employee Initiatives" category - and we won! The repeated nomination and victory are a great success. It proves that we are at the forefront when it comes to sustainability and social responsibility.
At the end of October 2023, FAHNENGÄRTNER received the 360°//GOOD ECONOMY AWARD in the area of employees. FAHNENGÄRTNER has been focusing on its employees for decades. Humanity and talent-oriented action create the best conditions for an optimal working atmosphere. The mental and physical health of employees is also promoted with the in-house health program XUNDI.
