Set an example, save lives!

We have been promoting the physical and mental health of our employees for years with our in-house Xundi health program. We have now decided to go one step further and make a further contribution to the general public.

With the refurbishment of our first aid stations in the company, we have decided to install a defibrillator for the general public. An AED (automated external defibrillator) can save a life in an emergency and we believe that our location is ideal for this. FAHNENGÄRTNER is located directly on the cycle path in Mittersill(Kürsingerdamm 6 - near the train station), which means that many cyclists and pedestrians pass our company during the summer months. Supporting measures for first aid are necessary where the emergency occurs and due to the proximity to the town center and the high frequency of recreational athletes, we hope to be an important part of a rescue chain.

In an emergency, things have to happen quickly. The public AED is installed directly at the main entrance, next to the front door. Its location makes it very easy to access and, importantly, it is clearly marked with the defibrillator symbol (a white heart and a plus sign on a green background). This allows passers-by to retrieve and use the device quickly and efficiently.

Why is a freely accessible defibrillator important, who can use it and in which cases should it be used?

The why is obvious. The faster first responders can take supportive measures - after notifying the emergency services - the greater the chance of improved care. It can be used by anyone, without any training or medical knowledge. AED defibrillators are designed so that they are easy to use and laypersons cannot cause any further harm to other people. The defibrillator comes with simple instructions that guide you step by step through its use. These defibrillators react fully automatically, measure independently and "decide" whether to use them.

The internet portal netdocktor.at recommends the following for use: "The AED should always be connected if a person suddenly becomes unresponsive and is no longer breathing normally. The device then decides whether a shock is required."
