Gerald Heerdegen (FAHNENGÄRTNER) from Mittersill was part of an extraordinary business trip to Kenya that consciously combined economic vision and social commitment. Together with 25 other entrepreneurs from Austria, the company took part in the opening of a kindergarten and a preschool in Meru at the beginning of February - financed entirely privately by the travel group.

Cell phone use is not only an issue in schools, where a nationwide ban on cell phones is to apply in the first eight grades from May 1. Fahnen Gärtner in Mittersill has also declared its company a cell phone-free zone. „At our company, everyone is given a landline extension which can also be used for private calls. And there are also landline telephones in every meeting room and on every desk, which are also available for private calls – because they are not addictive“, explains HR Manager Heidi Deutsch. The Mittersill-based flag manufacturer Fahnen-Gärtner supplies a large proportion of the flags for the World Ski Championships, including the award ceremony and carrying flags, and is present with its products throughout the World Cup village. As the only Austrian manufacturer to produce on a large scale using the screen printing process, the company has been supplying numerous major events such as the European Football Championships and the Ski Flying World Championships for decades. In addition to the World Cup, Fahnen-Gärtner is also strongly represented in the catering and hotel industry in western Austria, where many national flags come from its production.
